PrettyPark.Worm Removal Tool
SUMMARY
To download and use the Fix PrettyPark.Worm Tool:
- Download the file Fixppark.zip to a folder on your hard disk or to the Windows desktop.
- Use an unzip program to extract the files from Fixppark.zip. This will extract the files Fixppark.com and Psapi.dll.
NOTES:- This tool works only under Windows 95/98 and Windows NT.
- Windows NT
Both Fixppark.com and Psapi.dll are required for this tool to function properly on Windows NT. If you click Remove and you see the message "Missing psapi.dll error. Please make sure that psapi.dll is in the same directory as this tool.", then make sure that Psapi.dll is in the same folder as Fixppark.com. - Windows 95/98
If running on Windows 95/98, only Fixppark.com is required.
- Windows NT
- If you do not have a unzip program, you can obtain one at http://www.winzip.com.
- This tool works only under Windows 95/98 and Windows NT.
- Double-click Fixppark.com. Fixppark.com searches for PrettyPark.Worm in memory and terminates all processes that match it. It deletes the file Files32.vxd, which the worm added to the hard disk. It also deletes the registry key that the worm added during installation.
- Run LiveUpdate to make sure that you have the most recent virus definitions.
- Make sure that Norton AntiVirus (NAV) is set to scan all files, and then run a full system scan. Fixppark.com does not scan the entire hard disk for copies of PrettyPark.Worm. If NAV detects PrettyPark.Worm, run Fixppark.com again, and repeat the scan. Continue this until no more copies are detected.
NOTE: Although this tool has a .com file extension, it is actually a Windows executable file. It has been renamed to prevent possible problems in cases where the Files32.vxd file has already been deleted from the system.
If the tool does not run properly on Windows NT
If you click Remove, and see the message
